Kallik
I felt splashes of water shower me. The orca's vivid teeth flashed in my mind. Nisa falling into the seemingly endless black water, Taqqiq's frightened black eyes, the blood on the orca's teeth. It all seemed overwhelming. No... should I die? Was I meant to give up my life?
"KALLIK!" Taqqiq interrupted my thoughts. I stared at him in alarm. "Watch out!"
I turned around and saw a bigger orca whale, thrusting at me with his jaws wide opened. I squeezed my eyes shut... I heard a roar. Taqqiq charged at the whale, wildly raking his claws and biting the orca's back. The orca groaned and flopped into the water.
"Taqqiq..." I breathed. So tired. What day. "thank you." I managed to say out of my breath.
"Kallik," Taqqiq said. "Are you ok? I am the older brother, and I should take care of you."
"I'm fine." My eyes became suddenly heavy. "And you're just a cub."
Taqqiq looked in fear as my breathing slowed its pace. I closed my eyes...
"Kallik? Kallik?" Taqqiq frantically asked.
I wasn't dying. I was just sleepy, tired from all this chaos. It felt nice to relax. I tried to tell Taqqiq that I was just gonna sleep, but somehow my mouth wouldn't budge.
"KALLIK!" Taqqiq yelled. "DON'T LEAVE ME!"
"I'm not gonna die you..." I managed to say those words, but a sudden sharp pain hit my neck. I frantically looked at Taqqiq, who had a sharp, pointy thing on his neck, dazzled with feathers.
"They're darts!" Taqqiq told me, wincing. "Mother told us that, remember?"
I turned around and saw two flat-faces in thick, seal-skin looking pelts. I turned to Taqqiq. He began to faint, and so did I.
Blackout.
